Prepare to care case study - Susan

We worked with Susan to prepare her to find employment within the Care Sector. Susan was long term unemployed with multiple barriers to finding employment. She also displayed poor job searching skills, low self-confidence and as a single mother with 3 children, had major childcare issues. After her pre-employment training, we managed to source a suitable part time positions at Westfield Care home as a part time Care Assistant. This role enabled Susan to work around her children however now that they are older, it means that Susan has been able to take up full time employment within the home. Susan has been working at Westerfield care home since 2013 and has now achieved her SVQ Level 3. In June 2020 much to Susan’s delight, her daughter Hannah joined the care home and is now also working towards achieving her SVQ

Annette McConnachie. Westfield Care Home Manager comments.
“Susan presented as a very nervous person when she first started but has achieved so much by way of confidence in her time here. She is one of the more senior people on the unit at this time and is trusted with new staff. She has a very pleasant manner and other new staff relate to her well. Susan can still sometimes be a bit nervous out with her comfort zone but this does not last long.

She is valued and trusted and is a model employee.”
